Painted Easter Eggs: Creating your own Easter crafts for kids is a great way to keep your children busy and can also be an opportunity for parents to spend time with their children. Painted Easter eggs are just one of the many Easter decorations for kids that are both messy and fun to make.

What you will need: Eggs, saucepan with water, food colour, cups, vinegar, tape or rubber bands, slotted spoon, empty egg carton, apron, newspapers, paint brush, paints, glue, glitter.

Instructions: Boil the eggs in the saucepan with water until they are hard boiled. Remove from the heat, drain the hot water and pour cold water over the eggs to stop the cooking and to cool them. As the eggs cool, cover your work area with newspapers and put on your apron.

To add the colour to these Easter decorations for kids, fill the cups halfway with water. Add a teaspoon of vinegar and a teaspoon of food colour to the water. You may have as many cups as you have varieties of food colour. Allow the eggs to sit in the cup with the colours of your choice for at least five minutes or until they are the desired shade. Remove and place in the egg carton to dry.

Once completely dry, paint different patterns or designs on the eggs using the paints and paint brush. You can also to use the glue and glitter to give a shiny finish to these Easter crafts for kids.

Handmade Easter Cards: Making your own cards can be a lot of fun. This is one Easter craft for kids that will not only get their creative juices flowing, but also keep them occupied cutting and gluing for a hours on end.

What you will need: Card paper in assorted colours, construction paper in assorted colours, scissors, cookie cutters or stencils in different Easter themed shapes, glue, buttons, ribbon, glitter pens, sequins, paint, paint brushes, marker pens, pencils.

Instructions: Choose the color of card paper you want to work with. On the colored construction paper, use a cookie cutter or stencil to trace or draw the picture of a bunny or egg that you would like to go on the card. Carefully cut it out. Do this for as many cards as you would like to make. You can cut out different pictures for different cards to make these kids Easter crafts.

Use the glue to stick the cut out picture of your choice onto the card paper. To decorate these Easter crafts for kids use the glitter pens, paint, ribbons or sequins. You can use the marker pens to title your card.

On the inside of the card, use the marker pens to write a personalised message to the person to whom the card will be given. Use your best handwriting to do this – practice on a separate sheet of paper first. The finished cards can hang as Easter decorations for kids to show off their artistic skills.
